A job portal has two kinds of users with different needs. Candidates want to find relevant jobs quickly and apply. Employers want to post vacancies and reach suitable candidates. Each group needs its own account area, and the search has to be flexible enough to find the right job by keyword, place and many other details.
Candidates search by job title, keyword or company and by location, with a distance option from 5 to 100 miles. Filters cover the job category, the job type (for example full time, part time, contract, temporary, graduate, internship and apprenticeship), on-site, hybrid or fully remote work, how recently the job was posted, and pay levels.
Candidates register, upload their CV, save jobs, set up job alerts and apply to jobs.
Employers register, log in and post jobs through their own area of the site.
Each job has its own detail page with an Apply button. Featured jobs, browsing by industry and browsing by UK city help visitors find work without searching.
A blog with career-advice categories, a help and FAQ page, a guide to staying safe while job hunting, and about, contact, privacy and terms pages.
A separate admin area is used to manage the site's content.

The back end is built with Laravel and uses a MySQL database. The front end is built with HTML5 and CSS3. Laravel handles what a portal like this needs on the server side, such as user accounts for two roles, job records, search and applications, while MySQL stores the data.
